Oppressive Heat Wave!
  • Water Trees First.  They are expensive to replace.
Click for Tree Care sheet, Waterwise Irrigation Tips/Watering Trees, and Treegator demo.
    - Do not depend on your sprinkler system to keep them watered.

  • Water shrubs next and avoid severely pruning them
Click for Waterwise Irrigation Tips/Watering Shrubs and More.
    - Pruning stimulates growth, which means they need more water.
    - Existing growth provides additional shade to the soil, helping retain moisture.

  • Water the lawn early and cycle watering times.
Click for Waterwise Irrigation Tips/Watering the Lawn.
    - Finish irrigating before 8:00 a.m.
    - Calculate the Maximum Run Time for each sprinkler zone. Anything beyond that is wasted water.
    - Program your controller to irrigate in 3 - 4 cycles at least 30 minutes apart.

  • Other tips:
    - Mow grass high, promoting deeper root growth and holding more moisture. Your lawn is not a golf course.
    - Do not take off more than 25% of the grass height when mowing.
    - Do not use high nitrogen fertilizer.

Backyard Business” Still Beautifying Yards All Over Houston
RCW is the acronym for the partnership of Bob Robison, H. B. Cox and Tom Williamson, three former Shell employees and good friends.  In 1979 they started a weekend neighborhood landscaping company.  It was run from Tom’s backyard.
In 1982 Tom branched out and started a 50-acre tree farm which still supplies RCW with most of its trees.

From those humble beginnings we grew to occupy 4-acres at our current location with 11 employees.

Bud joined us in 2000 and immediately became our mascot.
