| Creeping Fig Ficus pumila |
![]() |
Native
of China, Japan and Vietnam. Hardy to 25 F. Reportedly
deer resistant. This vine climbs with suckers and will attach itself to masonry, wood, metal, or almost any surface. Plant to grow up an arbor; shaded entryway; fences or freestanding walls. It will easily cover a 4 story building, but will not climb on a hot south or west wall. Its small, bright green, heart-shaped leaves turn bronze with age. Needs to be cut back occasionally to control spread and to encourage growth of attractive juvenile foliage. Makes a rich leafy background for Azaleas, Variegated Mock Orange, or New Zealand Flax. |
