Mexican
Plum
is a small flowering tree. Early in the spring it is
covered with clouds of white, fragrant flowers that are
up to an inch wide. The small dark red, or purple fruit
ripen in late fall. As the tree reaches maturity, its
bark becomes dark and striated, peeling off in patches. It can be used as a specimen tree, or as an understory tree in naturalistic landscapes. It is relatively drought tolerant, grows as a single trunk tree, and does not form suckers. Because of these characteristics, it is widely used as root stock for grafting. |
| When available, we also offer Allred, Dwarf Purple Pony, and Purple Leaf Flowering Plums. |
