Grower's Notes:
Cherry Laurel is a large evergreen shrub or small tree with dark glossy green leaves.  It is a fast-growing small tree that casts dense shade. It grows in deep, moist but well-drained bottomlands in southeast Texas.

It grows in most urban conditions but does not like hot, dry locations.

The fruit is reportedly eaten by many species of birds, but both the leaves and fruit have a high concentration of hydrocyanic acid and are potentially poisonous to humans.
