| A sibling of
the ever popular Bat-Faced
Cuphea. Blazingly brilliant red, purple-throated tubular flowers
resembling bat faces glow against its deep green leaves. Hummingbirds
and butterflies are among its greatest admirers.
Use in front of a border, pots, and hanging baskets. Dormant during a mild winter. Mulch roots well. Cover with a blanket or frost-cloth when temperatures fall below 30 F for several hours. Prune to shape in spring, then watch it take off. Its cousins include Tri-Color Cuphea and Mexican Heather. |
