Torenia "Suzie Wong" (Torenia baillonii)
Few plants can equal the bright color and dazzling impact of Suzie Wong.  A bright-eyed plant for the shade bed, a pot or hanging basket under the eaves or porch. Dense, compact, trailing 6 to 8-inch plants are covered with a mass of 1-inch blooms of unusual appearance.  Bright golden yellow flowers with contrasting mahogany centers. The 4 golden-yellow petals are held upwards around a wide, deep purple throat so dark it looks entirely black!
Wishbone Flower (Torenia species)
Colors include white, white with blue or red cheeks, and light blue with deep blue cheeks. Habit is mounding -- growing a foot tall and wide. Originally from Vietnam, it's a heat lover. Flower production increases with rising temperatures. Produces seed, but not obnoxiously, that may sprout by mid-summer the next year. Grows in shady to partly sunny locations, but must be protected from mid/late afternoon sun. An excellent bedding plant.
